New #AlexOLoughlin interview from Nov ’12 Press Day

He’s a damn handsome man but it’s his genuineness and personality that make him “special” IMO. I could really just pull up a chair, grab a cuppa and talk to him all day.

  1. “I’m still an idiot but I was even more of an idiot back then” <— this just cracked me up! Bless him. I think he's being a little hard on himself there though, back then TV wasn't the big-name draw that it's becoming nowadays, when stars like Kevin Bacon have their own shows. Of course he would have wanted to do films, there's nothing wrong with setting your sights high. He wasn't too snooty to work in TV when it came to it, was he?

I really like this interviewer, his interview with Scott was also v thoughtful. He has a really friendly and knowledgeable style and he seems to get more in-depth answers to the same old questions. They seem very at ease talking to him.

    • You got it, Alicia. He had high hopes but in the end, he wasn’t too snooty to make the decision. There is another interview *somewhere* where he says while he wanted to do movies, he knew he had a family to support so it was a balancing decision between doing what his heart wanted and what he needed to do as a father. **love**

AND you’re right, the TV medium has changed a lot. Granted, I don’t go to a lot of movies anymore but I quit going because there are so few that were really worth the money. Movie actors may be bigger names and have bigger paychecks for less work (kind of like real life for those outside H-wood too, eh?) but I see a lot less ‘quality’ work out there. Most actors just make mediocre movie after mediocre movie. The real standouts are few and far between. At least with TV if we have a few episodes that don’t blow our socks off, we have next week to look forward to! Like the pre-quel epidose!! πŸ™‚

      • *melts*

I can’t remember the last time I came out of a film and wanted to immediately text ALL my friends to say ‘you must see this, it’s awesome!’. Usually I think ‘yeah that was good’ and then a massive never-going-to-watch-it-again BUT.

On a side note, he can be hard on me anytime. #justsayin

  2. Agree with Alicia, the interviewer was fabulous. I love this interview – it’s really interesting and you get a real sense of who Alex is from it. I love the way Alex doesn’t take himself too seriously. That’s a very Oz thing to do and it’s adorable :).

  3. Totes with you here, ESS. If I didn’t already love him, his interviews alone would make me love him. This one is most satisfying. He’s a doll.

    • It’s his interviews that made me love him. I don’t care how good looking he is, if he didn’t have ^^THIS^^ personality to go with it, well he’d still just be “that dude that plays McGarrett”. Nothing more, nothing less.

      • That’s exactly how I feel too ESS…EXACTLY!!
His sincerity and honesty and bright spirit truly shine through in his interviews. It is the cog in the wheel of my admiration and love for him!!

  4. Absolutely great interview πŸ™‚

He is not just a pretty face, he has brain, heart, fun personality!
